📢 CPD Workshop Recap: Mindfulness for Family Law Litigators 🧘♀️
Recently we were fortunate to undertake a CPD workshop on “Mindfulness for Family Law Litigators: Essential Skills to Avoid Burnout”, presented by Maureen Mueller. Here are some key highlights we would like to share:
1. Stress has a significant impact on our biology. It effects hormone levels in our blood, which can hinder our ability to effectively handle challenges. Stress may even give rise to symptoms such as difficulty relaxing, digestive problems, or chronic pain.
2. We react to stress in various ways. The most common ways are fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Stress can also influence our posture and physical movements, for example, how we stand and hunch our shoulders.
3. We need to understand the existence of stress, because stress is inevitable. We experience an estimated 60,000 thoughts per day, 80% of which are negative, but 85% of those negative thoughts never actually materialise.
4. Self-trust is essential in managing our reaction to and handling of threats, whether perceived threats or actual threats. By using our knowledge and skills, we empower ourselves to navigate any situation that arises.
We extend our gratitude to all the attendees for their participation and engagement. A special thank you goes to our facilitator, Maureen Mueller, for her invaluable insights and guidance throughout the workshop. Stay tuned for future opportunities to enhance your professional growth and well-being! 🌟
